A kinetic sculpture celebrating the origins of the animated medium, commissioned by Old Tricks group show at Upper Market Gallery in San Francisco. By endlessly looping Gertie's disobedient dance, an action that animator/ co-star Windsor McCay repeatedly asks Gertie not to do in the original film, the object provides space for her to be a free animal rather than an image to be perceived for human entertainment.
